The Department of Literature in Foreign Languages has been operating in the State Library since 1956. The department's mission is to scientifically base and form the book collection and effectively use publications in foreign languages. The department's employees carry out the work of collecting, processing publications, serving readers, and including publications in the department in the electronic catalog. The department maintains contacts with foreign embassies and cultural organizations to promote the development of international cultural cooperation. The department's treasury contains books and periodicals. The department has publications in about 50 languages, including English, German, Arabic, French, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Persian, Urdu, Pashto, as well as Hebrew, Esperanto, and others. These are excellent encyclopedias, literature that provides information on education, art, culture, politics, economics, and various fields. In addition, the department has special textbooks for language learning. Enriching language knowledge, high-quality study of foreign languages, traveling to countries around the world, and studying their history, culture, and art in more depth are carried out with the help of audio-visual media (audiocassettes, videocassettes, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records).
