The book depository department is an independent constituent department of the State Library. The department organizes and carries out work to ensure the proper storage of the library's collections, ensuring the integrity and normal physical condition of the publications stored in the collections. It also meets the demands of readers and subscribers quickly and completely. The department is located on three stages of the library. All stages are connected to each other by vertical book and passenger elevators. All conditions are created in the library premises to maintain the quality of publications, and temperature-humidity and light levels are maintained. The main treasury consists of about 5 million 300 thousand publications. In 1895, when the library was founded, there were 3000 publications in the treasury. The book depository department has been operating since 1940, when it was designated as an independent department. Today, the main treasure of the library is a diverse collection of publications in terms of type and composition. In addition to the main treasury, it also includes specialized treasures:

• Treasury of regional and local publications;

• Treasury of press publications;

• Treasury of ongoing publications;

• Treasury of abstracts;

• Treasury of publications in the languages ​​of the CIS countries.

The department's employees upload bibliographic information of publications located in the main treasury to the electronic catalog. About 750,000 publications are issued to readers from the main treasury per year. The library treasury is the main source of satisfying the information needs of the entire society and its individual members.
