The Art Department is an independent subdivision of the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan. The department has been operating since 1969. The main task of the department is to promptly satisfy the information needs of readers, collect and preserve the treasure, and create an electronic catalog. The treasure of the Art Department consists of books, periodicals, and audiovisual publications related to art. There is also a rich treasury of musical works by Turkmen and foreign composers. The department also has question-and-answer publications on all forms of art. Promoting the achievements of Turkmen and foreign art, the department organizes thematic and calendar exhibitions, holds meetings and evenings with prominent artists of Turkmenistan, performs various information for theaters, museums, and other institutions, prepares performances, and publishes articles in the media. The department has released a series of methodological guides about artists, directors, and composers and continues to do so. The Art Department has a sound library of audiovisual publications for public and private viewing and listening.
